1. The longer the power cord the greater the energy loss. In fact cords longer than 50’ have devalued amperage ratings unless a thicker gauge cord is used. Short power cords and custom lengths are a specialty of Stay Online.
2. Thick power cords lose less energy. Stay Online stocks thicker gauge cords for many applications.
3. Occupancy sensors. California Department of Energy has stated that lighting accounts for 35-45% of an office building’s energy use . Sensors can potentially reduce lighting use by 13-90%.
4. RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) compliance. All Stay Online molded products comply with this directive. These Regulations implement EU Directive 2002/95 which bans placing new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than agreed levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants on the EU market.
5. Amp metered products allow for close monitoring of power consumption for evaluation of energy use.

Green Policies:

1. We pay to have aluminum, glass, and plastics picked up by a recycling company.
2. We save cord pieces from production which we give to a copper recycler.
3. We shred our paper waste and use as packaging for our shipments.
4. We discontinue subscriptions to all junk catalogs and magazines.
5. We include “please consider the environment before printing this email” at the end of our emails.
6. We also reuse the packaging that comes from our manufacturers.
7. We recycle all cardboard that comes through our facility (a considerable amount).
8. We offer office products and equipment that we no longer use to a local Charter School.
9. We unplug all appliances when not in use.
10. We do not use screensavers and all monitors sleep when not in use.
11. Our shipping boxes are all overruns many of which have languished in a warehouse for years waiting for a buyer.
12. All office paper products we buy are recycled thus helping with the demand for these products.
